Each one is the shadow of all

What if the alphabet had another order? What if the big issues of the world are not what we see in the media? What if we did not look at the world on one side of the Atlantic as on the other, or on the edge of the Indian Ocean? So many questions that everyone had when they were younger. What if I realised my dreams? What if love did not exist? What if I were totally free? And if, as the poet Paul Eluard wrote: « Each one is the shadow of all »?

This photographic work of seven photographers is based on a simple interactive principle: the word-bridge, the caption; It’s a mixed puzzle that everyone can assemble as they see fit, to reach a figure in the world that always remains a question.

In a link, obvious or not, with the image, the photographic legend allows to highlight a narration, a questioning, image by image. Then, our story turned from the supposedly real version to the imaginary version. The illustrations and the text are transformed, guided by dreams, feelings or associations.

Obviously, we should not try to extract a sense of obvious visual information from a perceived image. We can, if we wish, experience the analogy that can result, in some cases, far superior to an analytical or discursive process. But once again, the choice is free! We can also confuse the mechanisms of interweaving light rays, shapes or colors, to lead to abstraction. In any case, it offers a vision of the world, hyper-realistic or disruptive, what does it matter?

This is our vision of the world, an iconic design where the first word of our series is « Poeta » (poet in French, poet in English, poeta in Italian, poeta in Portuguese). « We conjugate » in the vision expressed by Paul Eluard: « The poet is the one who inspires more than the inspired one ».

This reproduction of our universe never ends, like the last image of the series, ready for the rebirth of the new tomorrow. His legend is deliberately vague: « Cloudy ». It can mean many things: « cloudy, foggy, covered with clouds, darkening, blackening, change to gray, close … » It is true that the image could have been called « Poetry » … As Paul Eluard wrote: « repentance is the most beautiful shadow of the sundial. »

This collective VEO work in the form of ABC … turned into PLA … is a visual breath in the world’s drowsiness. It is transhumances and confluences, crosses and multiple identities; It is poetry in the vicinity of the time of possible utopias, during a visual encounter in twenty-four photos.
